COVID-19 Response

Fundamental to 2 green gals is the health of our clients, their homes, and our world.

Beginning in December, 2 green gals began to implement measures to protect our clients & our self while cleaning during cold & flu season - using gloves & a mask while cleaning as well as leaving shoes outside & using socks specific to the house being cleaned.  These were put into place as precaution for not bringing home colds & flu while Gerrie goes through chemo. Now, with the seriousness of the corona virus, these are things we are committed to continuing it as long as necessary. In addition, with the current concerns, we are spraying down supplies with disinfectant and we continue to diligently disinfect commonly touched surfaces (light switches & doorknobs), as well as taking our temperature daily before cleaning (if we are sick we will not be coming into clean and will notify you).

At this time 2 green gals is committed to continue cleaning.  We do ask that:

if you or your kids are home that we do not share the same room while cleaning occurs

if anyone in your household is sick or been exposed to COVID-19 to please notify us before cleaning

While we remember this can feel either scary or an overreaction, the choices we make allow us to ground ourselves in community care - if we can minimize & slow down the exchange it benefits us all. Sustainability, something deeply important to us, means sometimes knowing when to slow down or pause and rest. We’re taking this opportunity as a reminder that slowing down to focus on the best way to care for our clients and our community is always the right way to do things. Please check in with your elderly neighbors - we left notes offering picking up groceries or medications or running errands for them, you may be able to do the same thing or find an entirely different way to help.

Lastly, if cleaning services are disrupted we can offer remote support & tips on keeping your home clean during this time even if we can't be there to clean. Here is a link with more information about domestic workers during COVID-19 from Hand in Hand  network. We are deeply grateful for the flexibility, understanding, and community we have with our clients.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email us - we can provide resources & tips on keeping your home clean during this time.

We will leave you with a poem that has provided peace for us:

Pandemic

What if you thought of it
as the Jews consider the Sabbath—
the most sacred of times?
Cease from travel.
Cease from buying and selling.
Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world
different than it is.
Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.
Center down.

And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another’s hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch.

Promise this world your love--
for better or for worse,
in sickness and in health,
so long as we all shall live.

March Newsletter

March 20th is the first official day of spring - hopefully we will have warm weather, robins, and green starting to grow.

Remember Sunday March 8th is daylight savings time so turn your clocks forward one hour!

Spring cleaning can include small changes that can make big differences - clearing off counters quarterly, monthly or per visit allows us to clean more thoroughly. You can also still email us if you want to add a spring deep cleaning service to your recurring services - starting at $50 we can tackle areas that you have never thought to clean or have been bothering you (your fridge, under your stove, the front of your cabinets, vents, window sills, etc).

We have been deeply grateful for our clients understanding, flexibility, and support as we navigate our business while Gerrie continues chemo, this business space allows for Julia to provide for her family as well as offer caregiving for Gerrie - thank you for being a part of it.

Please always feel free to share any of your concerns during this time of transition - please email 2greengals@gmail.com, text or call Julia at 605.254.5215.

Blessings!
